6.    Take the 7cm (2¾) piece of 1.8mm (13 gauge) galvanized steel. Measure it against the size of the body and bend the steel into almost a right angle (80°). The bent section of wire shouldn’t be longer than the body, as otherwise it will stick out.

7.    Solder the galvanized steel wire on to the back of the butterfly’s body, making sure to place it down the centre. Insert 1cm (⅜in) of the galvanized steel wire into the brass tube.

8.    Fix the steel wire and brass tube together with a drop of solder, although getting the wire in the right place might be a little tricky. After checking the piece thoroughly, it’s ready to be finished (see How to Finish a Project). Clean the brass tube with some steel wool.
